Hand-block printed linen dress in Madron Carn design. Short-sleeved with shaped yoke of plain natural linen, pointed collar and neck bow trim of print fabric, fitted bodice with waist seam and mid-calf length skirt with two inverted box pleats, loop for belt at waist. Design on natural ground, with trees and landscape motifs in black, green, light red and blue. Made by Cryséde Ltd, St Ives.

There is no rear view of this dress, the back was used to make an apron. The maker left the shoulder seams and back yoke intact, allowing the dress to be mounted to appear complete. Before the 1970s, it was typical to reclaim and refashion worn out garments into other pieces.
