Wedding dress, 1965

Pengegon Methodist Church, Camborne, Cornwall

Long cream wedding dress in satin brocade with self-coloured sprig pattern. Long straight sleeves pointed at the wrist, round neck, long darts in the bodice. Long zip fastening. Two poppers on the right back held the train in place, later cut up for another purpose. Worn 24 July 1965 at Pengegon Methodist Church, Camborne. The bridesmaids wore blue and held pink flowers.

Length 1030mm, width 440mm.

The 1960s marked a shift towards modern and minimalistic styles. Chiffon and satin became popular fabric choices with clean lines and understated details.
